What is AxioBionics Wearable Therapy?

Wearable Therapy® is an integration of one or more surface electrical stimulation (TENS, NMES, FES) technologies with a personalized electrode garment bundled together in a complete package.
Traditional clinic-based therapy and electrotherapy are time-limited therapies, but Wearable Therapy elevates the amount of therapy time because it is worn on the body. Making muscles work daily is critical in the rehabilitation process. Active muscle contractions have beneficial effects that passive movement cannot deliver.
Wearable Therapy can be worn on the body under clothing for many hours throughout the day, every day. Patients can also elect to wear them for one to two hours at home when it is convenient and efficient to not leave the home. Wearable Therapy can only be fit by a qualified clinician after receiving a thorough evaluation.
FDA-Indicated Use for Wearable Therapy
The AxioBionics Wearable Therapy garments with cutaneous electrodes are intended to be used to apply electrical stimulation current to the patient’s skin via electroconductive media gel.
Examples of electrical stimulation applications of the garment are:
- Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) for pain relief
- Functional electrical stimulation (FES)
- Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) for:
- Relaxing muscle spasms
- Preventing or slowing disuse atrophy
- Increasing local blood circulation
- Re-educating muscles
- Stimulating calf muscles immediately after surgery to prevent venous thrombosis
- Maintaining or increasing range of motion
Evaluations
The first step is an evaluation, a one-on-one visit to understand and guide the patient through an in-clinic and home trial, if indicated. If there is a home trial indicated, the next visit will be an assessment of the home trial, going in-depth about what the patient has observed and what the options are moving forward. Basic evaluations start at $150 per hour.

The technology itself is tailored to each patient to ensure the product fits perfectly to the body and meets all comfort and performance expectations.
