Program Details
The New Patient Bundle is the most comprehensive and cost-effective care our medical center offers. The program includes multiple in-office diagnostic tests and several visits with clinicians and doctors by phone, in-person and via videoconference (see detail below).
All of the following visits and items are including in the New Patient Bundle:
1. Consult / Planning meeting with Dr. Boggess (40 min): to describe your health challenges, tell us about your goals, and hear Dr. Boggess initial thoughts about your case as he discusses our approach and choses initial diagnostic tests.
2. Phone Intake with Leslie Goss, MHE (Masters Health Educator) (60 min): to undergo full review of your intake forms, chart preparation, and , explain the initial labs and in-office diagnostics and provide instructions needed to submit everything without error or confusion.
3. In Office Diagnostics & Blood Draw (40 min): We will be conducting several in-office diagnostic tests including Orthostatic testing, Visual Contrast (for Biotoxin/Mold illness), and any other special assessments and blood work ordered. We will also be running a Bio-Impedance/Phase Angle Assessment, which is a comprehensive scan of electrolyte imbalances and the water content inside and outside of the cells. This information allows us to tailor an individualized hydration and nutrient replenishment plan for each individual, which often gets patients feeling better quicker!
4. In-Office Brainwave Assessment /HIRREM EEG (30 min): with this assessment we use state-of-the-art HIRREM (high-resolution, relational, resonance-based, electroencephalic mirroring) technology to look at the brain’s electrical activity. This study allows us to evaluate the brain’s ability to relax and balance and helps to determine if you are a candidate for certain protocols we offer.
5. In-Office Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Frequency (PEMF) Diagnostic (20 min): this powerful modality turns down Sympathetic or (Fight or Flight) nervous system activity. How an adult or child responds to a 20 minute session is very informative and will be part of the discussion during your teaching session which follows.
6. In-Office History Review & Physical Exam with Dr. Boggess (60 min): during this appointment you will undergo a complete physical exam and we will review the findings of the Brain Scan, Bio-impedance, Phase Angle-cellular Hydration, & Visual Contrast testing noted above.
7. Post-Lab Review coaching visit #1 with Leslie, MHE (30 min): this visit is intended to reiterate information reviewed during the first Lab Review, explain treatment plans, and discuss logistics of future follow up visits. This meeting serves to assist you in getting the most out of working with our clinic.
8. Post-Lab Review coaching visit #2 with Leslie, MHE (30 min): this appointment marks the last pre-paid visit in the New Patient bundle. Its purpose is to create a comprehensive, individualized symptom tracking system which we will update at each visit to track your progress. We will also use this opportunity to wrap up any loose ends and answer any final questions you may have before you begin the recommended multi-step rehab protocols.
9. Includes all shipping charges, software fees for genetics, phlebotomy and lab processing fees: our staff takes considerable care to get test-kits shipped quickly and efficiently to our patients. All blood draw and in-office lab processing fees are included. There is also a 3rd party, $45 per-patient fee to translate genetics which our clinic pays on your behalf.
Also Includes: Small-Group Teaching Sessions (when offered) at Natural Balance OR via video conference are also included: these small-group teaching sessions (for Precision Medicine patients and their family members only) are tailored for 10-12 patients and no two sessions being alike. The intended purpose of the session is to further orient you to the tenants of precision medicine and effectively prepare you to fully enjoy, understand, and participate in your ongoing treatment course with our clinic. There is also lively open group Q&A providing opportunity for reassurance and clarity, along with the opportunity to connect with other patients and build your own support network.
Please Note:
- All Bundle visits occur over 4 to 8 weeks in the approximate order written.
- Diagnostic lab fees, appointments to review labs, and follow up visits are not part of the bundle as they vary greatly from patient-to-patient (see next section for details)
- Subsequent follow up visits are charged separately according to our standard fee schedule for each clinician: Physician, PA-C, MHE, etc. (See below for details).
- We designed this process to meet the initial needs of most patients. However, in some cases we may need additional time to finalize your New Patient intake with Dr. Boggess. In such case, the extra time will be charged at our standard hourly rates (see section below).
- There is a 50% deposit due at the time of scheduling. The other 50% is due at the time of the in-office medical appointments.
- You may cancel at any time and will only be charged for services provided up to that point or a $210 fee to cover our admin cost, whichever is higher. Please note as a general rule: Our cancelation policy is 3 business day prior to any appointments, to avoid being assessed a late cancellation/reschedule fee.
- We do not bill any insurance. Super-bills are provided for all visits to submit to your insurance for reimbursement to you directly.
- Thank you! We look forward to working with you soon...
Once you have completed New Patient visits our doctors and clinical team will teach you how to interpret your labs and genetics and will develop a treatment plan specific to your needs.
All test results will be fully explained, summarized, and dictated, and you will be given a copy of all reports and dictations. At the completion of your Lab Review sessions you should have a full understanding of your current state of health, genetic predispositions, and the clinical course planned.
Please Note: The Lab Review appointments are NOT included in the New Patient Bundle and vary from patient-to-patient. For budgeting purposes, most patients complete the process within 2 or 3, 1 hour visits.
Follow-up schedule: After completing all lab and genomics reviews, the time frame and hourly rates switch to our standard follow-up fee schedule. These visits are generally 20-30 minutes every 3-12 weeks, depending on the protocol. The standard fee schedule for these visits range from $65 to $250 per visit, based on the type of visit: doctor, physician assistant (PA-C) or health educator (MHE).
Our team follows up frequently because your improvements are dynamic and changing, our nutraceutical have to be equally dynamic and changing. The supplements that are ideal for you initially may be harmful later. Likewise nutritional supplementation for too long can be more harmful than the original deficiencies being treated. Therefore, we work intensively, follow up closely, and adjust protocol instructions frequently in partnership with our patients.
Determining Length of Treatment: We work closely with most Precision Health participants for 1.5 to 3 years, depending on the complexity of the situation. You will receive a written summary of your overall clinical course planned and estimated time frame after your Genomics Review (typically the last lab review visit).
Our goal is to rehabilitate your health. Hence, the nutraceuticals/supplements we prescribe are not meant to be taken long term. They are given in an aggressive YET careful and systematic way for a predetermined timeframe before moving to other protocols. In other words, the order in which things are rehabilitated, and the degree to which a reliable foundation is laid, is the key to our success!
This option is ideal for busy executives, athletes, or any other patient or client that wants the highest level of one-on-one interaction, teaching, and coaching with Dr. Boggess. A paid, 60-minute videoconference is the required first step to enroll yourself or your child into this program. There is limited availability and all patients must be seen at least once in person by Dr. Boggess, either in our office, or under select circumstances, a patient’s private residence or office.
Thereafter, all future follow-up visits can be done via phone or videoconference. We are set up for video screen sharing and work with our out-of-state and overseas patients efficiently and effectively, and we ship all testing materials and products from our office to your home reliably.
Many people come to us from outside of Michigan. In such cases, we customize the New Patient Bundle based on the complexity of the situation, and whether or not you are traveling from out-of-state or overseas. A required 30-minute phone meeting ($240) with the doctor is the first step to solidifying your decision to work with our clinic.
Many of the initial medical and education visits associated with the New Patient Bundle are done via phone and videoconference. However, please keep in mind that all enrolled patients must be seen at least once in person at our clinic.
Thereafter, all future follow-up visits can be done via phone or videoconference. We are set up for video screen sharing and work with our out-of-state and overseas patients efficiently and effectively, and we ship all testing materials and products from our office to your home reliably.
Additional Information
Natural Balance Wellness is a multidisciplinary center focused on Precision Functional medicine. Established in 2008, we are known most for our novel genomics-based approach to health and healing in children and adults of all ages.
Our team's passion is to help those suffering from puzzling symptoms not yet resolved, as well as individuals seeking the highest level of genomics-based preventative medicine available.
Our clinic blueprint is to succeed where others have failed to provide answers or bring relief.
We do not follow ANY prevailing paradigms related to a diagnosis given by your previous doctors per se, but rather we leave no stone unturned in discovering each person's genetic predispositions, current biological imbalances, and pre-disease states. We then cross reference all factors to each other to provide our patients with the answers they have been seeking regarding symptoms, illness, and future predispositions.
We use medical, genetic, and neurological assessments combined with an array of other novel diagnostic tools to develop a care plan unique to you and your specific needs.
Our first goal is to resolve ALL stressors (biological, environmental, psycho-emotional, or otherwise). Be it inflammation, infections, toxicity, nutritional deficiency, personal hardships, etc, ALL stressors are central to one's health decline because they reveal our genetic weakness as we age and become constitutionally weaker over time.
We ALSO understand such stressors, biological imbalances, and nutritional deficiencies pull on both ends of our chains so to speak, and where we break is where we are genetically weak! For some people such breaking leads to autoimmune conditions, for others diabetes. Some will develop mood problems, hormonal issues, etc. Critical stressors during early development become cognitive and learning challenges, etc in our children. Often these conditions "run in the family." Sometimes they are unique to the individual with no family history otherwise.
The key to our approach lies in addressing all such hidden imbalances, deficiencies, infections, inflammation, dysregulated immunity, etc., while ALSO addressing the underlying genetic weaknesses that allowed such imbalances to take hold in the first place. Essentially, we focus on fortification of your castle and the consequences of its fallen state on your quality of mood, energy levels, hormone balance, digestion, etc (i.e. what we refer to as misery factors).
After reviewing all genetic and functional tests to your satisfaction, we co-create a personalized plan of care with you which might include lifestyle-dietary modifications, nutritional supplements, modalities such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy, detoxification sauna, neurofeedback, and any number of other treatment approaches available to us.
As explained by Dr. Boggess
“To answer this question, we first need to define success...
Keeping in mind that our Precision Genomics program attracts very complicated, yet ALSO very motivated patients; we define success as discharging in 1 to 3 years after all protocols are completed with our patients feeling 70 to 100% better...
Our best estimate of how often this occurs is that out of every 10 patients who enroll in the program 7 -8 (on average) will continue beyond 12 months. Of those 7 -8 patients who continue, 6 -7 will succeed (as defined above).
The 2-3 people who drop off early may do so because they feel better quickly but risk ending up back where they were because the process was not completed. Others have changes in life circumstances or find the program more effort than what they were ready for, etc.
Also, for our clients that stayed the course but did not achieve 70-100% improvement, we rarely hear they are disappointed in our effort, OR dissatisfied with feeling 40, 50 or 60% better, etc."

Billing Process: As a medical center, it is our sincere intention that your visit be recognized by insurance AND qualify for reimbursement based on your out-of-network benefits. Our clinic’s ability to provide super-bills for your visit and utilize insurance for testing is why we are able to save patients thousands of dollars compared to other practices run by limited-license clinicians such as chiropractors, naturopathic doctors, acupuncturists, etc. That said, we are unable to guarantee that your insurance will reimburse your visits, nor can we project how much reimbursement you might receive.
How we determine Visit Type?
Visit Description |
“Simple” Check-up on a particular protocol without further instructions or decisions. Patient or staff requested a simple visit to solve a problem that cannot be solved by a clinical assistant without a doctor. This also included DBS follow up visits. |
“Follow up”: Review response to existing protocol, troubleshoot if needed, update Review of Systems (ROS), provide and explain next steps, answer questions. |
“Basic Planning or Lab Visit”: Multilevel decision making required. Creating a new ROS. If re-testing, 1 or 2 simple labs are reviewed, explained and documented. Wrapping up a previous protocol, establishing and explaining a new protocol, etc. |
“Extended Planning or Lab Visit”: Same as Level 4, but more extended / higher complexity. If re-testing, 1 complex, multi-page lab OR multiple simple labs reviewed, explained and documented. |
“Extensive Planning or Lab Visit”: Same as Level 5 Extended Planning or Lab Visit, but more extensive / higher complexity / more time spent. Typically used when reviewing and documenting multiple labs OR re-establishing care. This level of visit is rare for an established patient undergoing follow up visits or lab reviews. |
Our clinic policies include important information about working with our clinic, insurance billing, refund policies, payment information, cancellation policies, etc. We request that all new patients review this material prior to enrolling with our clinic.
We do not get involved in litigation, depositions, workman’s compensation claims, medical disability claims, or writing for any work restrictions. Therefore, if you are seeking medico-legal support, our office will not be able to assist you. We are, however, more than happy to continue to help you from a medical perspective even as you continue with whatever liability or disability claims you are involved in otherwise.
