Dr. Amy Berke
Amy Berke, MD is a family medicine trained physician who centers her approach to hormonal, thyroid and adrenal problems, neurochemical imbalance, pathogenic illness, and autoimmunity, around the leading edge concept of genetic susceptibility. Having trained with Dr. Boggess as a Nutrigenomics expert, she assists with our nationally recognized, pioneering small group programs and also works one-on-one with patients. Working in harmony with the body, she uses both conventional and natural therapies including vitamins, minerals, herbs, amino acids, and bio-identical hormones to encourage health and healing.
Along side the rest of the Natural Balance team, Dr. Amy searches diligently for the root cause of illness and has success in treating a range of chronic illnesses. Understanding that good diet and gut health are essential to well being, she focuses on healing the digestive system as one of her primary areas of interest. She also has an affinity toward treating women’s health issues including menopausal concerns and menstrual disorders.
Dr. Amy received her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed her residency at St. Joseph Mercy. Even prior to medical school, she knew her conventional training was only a piece of the puzzle. Dissatisfied with the limitations of conventional medicine and its fragmented treatment of symptoms, she acquired the knowledge and skills to develop her own integrative perspective blending the best of both worlds of medicine.
Known for her caring approach, Dr. Amy truly enjoys getting to know her patients. She utilizes comprehensive diagnostic testing to get to the bottom of things, especially pertaining to her work with biotoxic Mold and Lyme illness. Having recognized that many people suffer from immune over-response without knowing it, she has made mastering the intricacies of the innate immune system an integral part of her mission to help patients. As such, she is gaining certification in Dr. Shoemaker’s rigorous Mold Toxicity training program.
Dr. Amy feels very fortunate that she is able to use her knowledge and passion to help her patients every day. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, singing, drawing, yoga, and cooking. She travels through life with mindfulness and compassion, and looks forward to continuing to learn and share with others throughout her journey.
Dr. Theresa Basinger
Dr. Theresa Basinger’s passion for integrative medicine was borne out of frustration after multiple pediatric providers were unable to assist with her son’s immune problems and daughter’s neurological delays. Her search culminated in joining our clinic with a passion for promoting and practicing the nutritional-biomedical medicine that ultimately helped her family.
As a Pharm D, Dr. Basinger brings a unique perspective to our clinic. Her extensive biochemistry and pharmacologic knowledge positions her ideally to understand how nutraceuticals enhance and repair physiological pathways. Her primary clinical focus is hormonal and neurotransmitter imbalances, adrenal fatigue and methylation defects and she works closely with Dr. Boggess. She is a committed patient advocate and thoroughly enjoys educating patients to help them fully understand their health issues and the options they have to optimize their health.
Dr. Basinger earned her pharmacy doctorate from Ohio Northern University and she has over 10 years of clinical experience in a variety of settings including hospital, retail, nursing homes and compounding pharmacies. Dr. Yvonne Berry
Dr. Yvonne Berry is a board certified Family Medicine Physician who developed impressive skills and knowledge related to Biotoxin Illness as a result of her own personal struggles. After recognizing the impact of environmental factors on her own health, Dr. Berry compiled information on Mold and Biotoxin Illness into a training manual based on the work of Dr. Ritche Shoemaker, a renowned Biotoxin Illness Specialist, and has been recognized for effectively whittling this complex topic into educational material for physicians and patients alike. She is now ideally poised to help adult and pediatric patients navigate the complexities of this condition.
As background, Dr. Berry grew up in Southfield, Michigan, attained a Bachelors in Biology from Wayne State University, and went on to complete her Medical Doctorate at Wayne State University School of Medicine. In 2001, she completed her Family Medicine training at William Beaumont Hospital and earned her Board Certification. Following her training, she briefly worked at an alternative health care clinic offering holistic medical care and accepted a non-faculty teaching position within her residency program. Due to chronic and debilitating symptoms, later found to be related to Biotoxin Illness, Dr. Berry took a sabbatical from patient care to care for herself and her three young boys. During this time, she received treatment and advice from multiple traditional physicians without much progress. It eventually seemed obvious that a different approach was necessary. After much prayer and consideration, Dr. Berry decided to come under the care of Dr. Boggess. However, even Dr. Boggess’ typically-successful non-traditional approach wasn’t bringing recovery, which ultimately led to their co- discovery of Biotoxin Illness and Ritchie Shoemaker’s books and training materials. Over the course of a couple years, Dr. Berry intently studied the clinical research and treatment protocols of Dr. Shoemaker. She recently authored a presentation titled A Physician’s Guide to Understanding & Treating Biotoxin Illness, Based on the work of Dr. Shoemaker. This comprehensive presentation has been reviewed by Dr. Shoemaker and will soon be available for purchase on his website, www.survivingmold.com, for physicians and patients. Dr. Berry uses Dr. Shoemaker’s protocol for managing Biotoxin Illness patients. This step-by-step process has proven to help many patients who are suffering from this illness.
Dr. Berry feels a sense of Divine leading in her growing knowledge of Biotoxin Illness and in her desire to help others. She and her husband reside in the metro Detroit area with their three school-aged sons.
